The short version
There are no accounts, cookies, analytics, ads or trackers. Your lyrics stay on your device unless you copy a share link.
On your device
Your text, settings and pinned words are saved in your browser's local storage so they are there when you come back. They never leave your device on their own. To remove them, open Settings and choose Delete saved data.
When you copy a share link
To make a short link work, Assonance stores the text, its highlight settings, your pinned words, your word fixes and a preview image of it. They are kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- Anyone who has the link can open it, and apps such as Discord show its preview image. Links are hard to guess, but they are not private.
- To delete your links early, open Settings in the same browser and choose Delete my shared links.
- If short links are unavailable, you get a long link instead. A long link carries the text inside the address itself and nothing is stored.
Hosting
Assonance runs on Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes requests, including IP addresses, to serve the site and protect it from abuse, under the Cloudflare privacy policy. Shared links are stored in Cloudflare Workers KV. Fonts and the pronunciation dictionary are served from this site, so no other company sees your visit.
Removing a link
If a shared link contains something that should not be there, such as abuse or text you hold the rights to, email [email protected] with the link and it will be removed.
